Pre-Ayahuasca Preparation Program: Prepare for Your Healing Journey

This virtual preparation program is designed for anyone interested in participating in an Ayahuasca retreat, whether at our center or elsewhere. Our goal is to help you prepare comprehensively—physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually—so your experience can be as profound and beneficial as possible.

What the Program Offers

You'll have the opportunity to participate in four 50-minute sessions, conducted via video call, where you'll speak directly with Erik Hendrick. Erik is not only an Ayahuasca session guide, authorized by Shipibo curandero doctors, but also a psychotherapist who works from the perspective of C.G. Jung's analytical psychology and transpersonal psychotherapy.

During these sessions, we'll thoroughly explore your personal history, seeking to uncover potential energetic blockages and unresolved internal conflicts. We'll also address your motivations and intentions for deciding to participate in an Ayahuasca retreat, and discuss how an assisted treatment with this ancestral medicine can help you overcome these conflicts and achieve psycho-energetic cleansing.

.

Personalized Preparation and Assessment

In the sessions, you'll receive detailed information on an appropriate preparatory diet, which isn't exactly the same for everyone. We'll help you design a personalized diet based on your age, physical condition, and unique body, ensuring you're physically ready to experience Ayahuasca's powerful effects. Additionally, we'll assess your emotional and psychological state to determine if participating in an Ayahuasca retreat is truly the most suitable step for you at this point in your life.

We work with a deep ethical commitment and in complete confidentiality. We consider our work highly professional, based on respect, compassion, honesty, and the deepest dedication.

Your Choice and Our Commitment

Once you complete the preparation program, you'll have total freedom to choose the location for your Ayahuasca retreat. We also offer Ayahuasca retreats, based on a model that integrates the ancestral wisdom of the Amazon jungle with transpersonal psychotherapeutic knowledge and techniques. Essentially, the idea is for this program to prepare you, whether for a retreat at our center or any other place you choose.

If you're interested in participating in this program, please don't hesitate to contact us via email (info@sapaninka.com) for any questions or clarifications.

First session

•    Our main goal in this first session is to get to know each other and build a foundation of mutual trust.
•    We'll thoroughly explain the therapist's role, background, approach, experience, and objectives.
•    The therapist will help you explore your motivations for seeking these sessions and why you wish to participate in an Ayahuasca retreat.
•    We'll ask you to share details about your personal history, family, social, and cultural background. Crucially, we'll discuss any past spiritual, mystical, or "anomalous" experiences you've had.
•    We'll also clarify all the details about the sessions themselves, jointly setting the dates and times for upcoming sessions, and establishing the boundaries of the process.

Second session

•    We'll briefly revisit your motivations for wanting to participate in an Ayahuasca retreat. It's important to have a clear understanding of why you've decided to embark on this journey.
•    What are your goals for healing, growth, self-discovery, or spirituality? Are you facing a crisis, seeking to overcome trauma, or searching for deeper meaning?
•    We'll review relevant aspects of your life history, including any traumas, recurring behavioral patterns, significant relationships, and any unresolved emotional or psychological "knots."
•    We'll explain the possible effects of Ayahuasca medicine, as every experience is unique and unpredictable.
•    You'll be prepared for the possibility of experiencing a wide spectrum of intense emotions and various sensory alterations (visual, auditory, kinesthetic).
•    We'll discuss all possible expectations.
•    We'll confirm the time and day of your next session.

Third session

•    We'll help you begin to recognize aspects of your psyche that might emerge during the ceremony (fears, insecurities, repressed impulses, resentments). This is the "shadow" which, once recognized, can be worked with.
•    We'll assist you in identifying your deepest aspirations and potential for growth, connecting current conflicts with a search for wholeness and meaning—a transpersonal vision.
•    We'll explain that the consciousness we experience daily (the ego) is only one part of the total psyche. The Ayahuasca experience often takes us beyond these familiar boundaries of the ordinary self.
•    We'll address the idea that psychic contents exist outside our immediate awareness (repressed memories, forgotten experiences, unresolved emotional complexes). Ayahuasca can bring these contents to light for processing.
•    We'll emphasize that the unconscious, especially under the influence of an ancestral medicine like Ayahuasca, communicates through symbols, metaphors, images, and sensations, rather than logical or linear language. Understanding this is key to avoiding feeling overwhelmed or confused by visions, and we'll discuss this in detail.
•    We'll confirm the day and time of your next session.

Fourth session

•    We'll discuss the possibility of experiencing a sensation of self-dissolution or merging with your surroundings, or with the "all."
•    We'll discuss what constitutes a "difficult" experience during the ceremony and provide advice on how to navigate it if it arises.

•    We'll help you strengthen your mental state (set: intentions, expectations, psychological preparation) and discuss the crucial importance of the physical and social environment (setting: the location, the guides, the music, safety) for the development of your experience.
•    We'll provide essential information on the preparatory diet (physical and mental), abstinence recommendations (medications, substances, etc.), and the sensory and emotional expectations of the ceremony.
•    You'll learn and practice tools to manage challenging moments during the ceremony, such as breathing techniques, anchoring, or non-judgmental self-observation.
•    Program closure.
